How do you think we got the remaining 10 B to import? LOANS
Same trend continued during the past years.
We have exhausted the loan sources by taking loans and loans. Now we cant take loans to spend the luxary life style, we did before.
IMF will come again will give us some loans to enjoy for some period.


But without increasing exports / turism revenue. No other way now.
I expect a very hard time ahead under any government. be it SAJITH , ANURA, Mahinda or someone else.

No.. WHat you have purchased here are imported from another country. You are just a party within the printed Rupee circulation in Sri Lanka. In your logic, if you have earned or helped to bring an equalant USDs ( equlant to the import expenses including TV, Laptop, dhal, papers, fuel etc) back to country, (say through freelance) then you can proudly say I earned and I paid . I am not part of the problem.

I am not saying we should all go out of Sri lanka and work. DOing an export business, working in a export business, freelance etc will do...

Those are bad investment decisions yes I agree.. We should have used those funds for foriegn income generating investments.

Our bigger issue is our imports are twice as our exports. Loans we can rollover and pay if we have increased out revene (ie exports or turism revene)

Im just pointing out ur wrong logic in paying tax in SL Rupees and buying goods imported using USDs. And saying you are not part of the probelm.
I know all the previous government should bear the responsibility. But you are are (including me) are part of the probelm.

Just see how many try to make a quick money by importing cheap goods ( even water last year) and selling here ?
