ඒ අපි අද මෙතන ඉන්නේ අපේ විදුහල් මෑණියන් නිසාත්, අලස් සර් වගේ අපේ නෙත් පාදපු, ජීවිතේ කියල දුන්නු, මේ රටට, මේ මහ පොළොවට, මේ රටේ මිනිස්සුන් ආදරේ කරන්න කියල දීපු ගුරු දෙවිවරුන් නිසා.................
අලස් සර් අපේ ජීවිතේ වීරයෙක්. අපට මග නොමග කියල දුන්න පියෙක්.
ඒවගේ මිනිසුන් දැකීමත්, ඔවුන් ගේ ඇසුර, මග පෙන්වීම ලැබීමත්, පූර්ව කුශල කර්ම අපි කරපු.
එවැනි මිනිසුන් නැවත පහල වන්නේ නෑ........................................
මම D.S. එකට යනකොට අලස් සර් නොසිටියත්, මාහට මෙවන් විදුහලක් දායද කළ ගුරු පියාණනි ඔබට සදා ණයගැති වෙමි!

In 1965 the number of requests to admit children into the Royal College Primary had become excessive. Thus the Minister of Education I.M.R.A. Iriyagolle took the initiative to build a new school in Cinnamon Gardens on the lines of Royal College Colombo In 1967, the then Minister of Education I.M.R.A. Iriyagolle began the ground work for establishing the school. It was named after D.S. Senanayake, who was the first Prime Minister of Sri Lanka after gaining independence. R.I.T. Alles, a teacher of woodcraft at Royal College became the Head Master of the new school. The location in which the College stands today was at that time called the Kumbikale jungle. Building the college was a dream of one person, the then Minister of Education, I.M.R.A. Iriyagolla. This was during the regime of Dudley Senanayake. Iriyagolla’s dream was realised by the vision and enthusiasm of R.I.T. Alles, the founder Principal. Alles was ably assisted by a much-dedicated team of teachers and a loyal and ever enthusiastic body of parents.
A land that was covered with trees and shrubs and gave the appearence of a jungle in posh Colombo 7, was cleared by parents and teachers. Gradually, Alles, his teachers and parents transformed a school that began as a shed into a massive national educational institution that has produced men of calibre, who have excelled in many a field.
The college was to be an alternative to Royal College and to accommodate the idea, it had to be built up.
Today, D.S Senanayake College has become one of the Pioneer Education centers of Sri Lanka.With a Student Population of over 5000 & a dedicated Staff of over 265 Teachers, DSSC is a force to reckon with. There are many achievements of excellence both in the Academic & the Non academic Field we have fostered some of the best educational & sporting prospects of this country.
D.S Senanayake College provides education to Students from Grade 1 to 13 in both Sinhala, Tamil & English Media. It also provides English Medium studies in Mathematics, Science & Commerce fields for the Advance Level Examinations. The School is fully equipped with Modern Classrooms, Multiple Science Laboratories and Computer Laboratories, Ground & Sports Complex for sports activities. It also has more than 35 Clubs, Societies & Associations engaged in all types of Co curricular activities. There is also a wide range of sporting activities be it the Track, Field or Swimming Pool.
But the most wonderful side of this tale is the success of D.S Senanayake College is that the rapid growth of this establishment in such a short period of 35 years. It was the sole commitment of the Administration of the School, Teachers, Parents and Students & the Old Boys working together to achieve a common goal. Their path was always not cleared. It was a harsh climb to the top, with a lot of sweat, blood & tears in the path that we walked by. Because as our founder Principal Mr. R I T Alles says " D.S was not built of the pocket of the rich man, but of the hand of the humble poor man."
We at DS are all brothers, regardless of race, cast or creed. The blood which bonds us together is this School that has brought us together. The brotherhood of the D.S Senanayake College will always be there to carry the sprit of DS forward, under the Black & Gold banner when they say …

අපි ඉන්න කාලේ අලස් සර් නෑ.. ඒත් අලස් සර් හදපු සන්ස්කෘතිය තාමත් ඒ විදියටම ඉස්කෝලේ තියේනවා.. කවදාවත් කිසිම ගුරුවරයෙක් කෝටුවක් පාවිච්චි කරන්නේ නෑ.. හෑමෝම ලමයින්ට පුදුම ආදරේයි.
ලන්කාවේන් පිට ඉන්න අයියලා මල්ලිලාතත් සර්ගේ අවසන් දවසට ඈවිත් යන්න කියලා ආරාදනා කරනවා.
අපේ සර්ට නිවන් සුව ලෑබේවා.
