Based on the urban legend of the haunted bridge at Tunghai University in Taiwan, In 2016, a student wanted to test the tale and live streamed his adventure. He ends up tricking the audience by hanging a figure into the trees behind him. He later ended up apologizing and deleting his live stream (watch) but the production team of the movie already caught on and worked out the entire plot inspired by this student's story.

The plot follows a group of students who test out an augmented reality horror game at the Da Ren building in the Chinese Culture University in Yangmingshan,Taiwan. According to legend, this building was supposedly built where the realms of the living and dead collide. The university hired a Architect to do a bagua design to ward off evil. Instead, he designed an inverse bagua that attracts evil spirits. After killing his lover, he committed suicide in the building. Countless apparition sightings and paranormal incidents have plagued the building ever since. Soon enough, the line between the game and reality starts to blur, and the students end up releasing something sinister that hunts them through the Da Ren building.
