I feel the so called "experts" who have been backing the burying option have not been completely honest in their opinion and possibly bending over backwards to appease the muslim community. Hence, cremation remains scientifically the best option. So good decision in the end and good work on the govts part by not behaving like a bull in a china shop, but treating this issue carefully by listening to professionals (I guess unp/jvp ponnayo wanted the muslims and sinhalese instigated, but sadly they will be disappointed once again).

Just FYI.... In case you are not aware. Coronaviruses can be transmitted through via feaces. Flushed water entering into sewerage systems also becomes another carrier medium for this virus. Coronaviruses can survive up to 2–3 days in sewage water and up to 10 days in tap water at 23 °C - of course if the water is treated with Chlorine then it's different.
As you say , it's not normally water borne. But don't assume everything. A Boston based company developed a method of detecting the corona virus on sewage, if I remember right, somewhere last March. Now it's widely used in many countries. A quite easy method to test whole areas, blocks of units or streets just by testing the sewage water.
