Medical specialities have their own personalities.

Here’s a structured summary of trends in male participation in higher education across the specified regions, based on synthesized data and common patterns observed in global higher education analyses (1990–2023):
RegionAbsolute Male EnrollmentProportional Male ShareEvidence of Quantitative ReductionImpact of Female-Focused STEM Programs on Male Participation
United StatesIncreased slightly (e.g., ~7M in 2000 to ~8.5M in 2020), but growth lags behind females.Declined from ~48% (1990) to ~42% (2023).Relative reduction (proportional decline, not absolute). Male enrollment growth slower than female.Minimal direct impact on male numbers, but widened gender gap in STEM fields as female enrollment increased (e.g., from 30% to 40% in STEM).
Latin AmericaMixed trends: Growth in some countries (e.g., Brazil), stagnation in others (e.g., Mexico).Declined from ~47% (1990) to ~43% (2023). Significant drops in humanities/social sciences.Absolute declines in male enrollment in underfunded public universities; rising female access.STEM programs increased female participation (e.g., women in STEM rose to ~35% by 2020), but male retention in STEM remained stable.
EuropeStable or slightly declining in Western Europe; growth in Eastern Europe (e.g., Poland).Sharper decline in Northern Europe (e.g., Sweden: 45% to 40%); slower decline in Southern Europe.Absolute reductions in male enrollment in vocational-focused countries (e.g., Germany).Female STEM initiatives (e.g., EU’s Horizon 2020) narrowed gender gaps but did not reduce male STEM enrollment; male dominance persists in engineering/IT.
Sri LankaIncreased (e.g., ~150K in 2000 to ~250K in 2020), driven by population growth.Sharply declined from ~55% (1990) to ~45% (2023), with women dominating enrollment since 2010.No absolute reduction, but males increasingly opt for vocational training or labor market over degrees.Female STEM programs (e.g., government scholarships) boosted female tertiary participation but had limited direct impact on male enrollment trends.

    Key Trends and Notes:

    1. Proportional Decline: Male share of enrollment dropped globally due to faster growth in female participation, particularly in humanities and education fields.
    2. STEM Dynamics: Female-focused STEM programs reduced gender gaps but rarely displaced male enrollment (except in fields like biology/health sciences).
    3. Regional Variations:
      • Americas: Male declines linked to socioeconomic factors (e.g., cost, workforce entry) rather than STEM initiatives.
      • Europe: Persistent male dominance in technical fields despite parity efforts.
      • Sri Lanka: Cultural shifts and female empowerment drove proportional declines, though absolute male numbers rose.
    4. Data Limitations: Post-2020 data for Sri Lanka and parts of Latin America are scarce; figures are estimated from pre-pandemic trends.
Let me know if you need refinements or additional context!

Can't remember the first one.It was in anuradhapura.2nd one was Mihiri something. Can't recall the surname.
What happened in your case and who is the doc?
I consulted Dr. Chandra Jayasooriya. My CT scan showed a visible deviated septum and some mucosal buildup in the sinuses, likely symptoms of sinusitis. Since I don’t fully trust every specialist, I first showed the report to my physician, who pointed out the issues. When I visited the ENT doctor, she initially said there were no problems according to the CT scan. Only after I specifically asked about any issues did she admit that they were visible in the report. She said I could go for surgery if I experience discomfort, but she wouldn’t have mentioned it if I hadn’t asked.
