jVP closed the first medical college at Ragama through agitation and late president premadasa nationalized it. In any event it was a state entity without private investment. We have paid higher education institution from schools to Unis (foreign and local eg OUSL).

If not for their idiotic demand in 89 to privatize Ragama private medical college , by not we may be a south asian hub for medical education with lot of foreign students comming to sri lanka and we may have earned good foregn currency. India , Nepal , Bangladesh they all have private Unis and lot of sri lankan students go there spending our currency . Some are not very good standard , we could have done those in Sri Lanka if not for people like Dr. Nalinda , AKD, and rest of JVP
What did JVP who were a part of CBK govt from 1994-2005 and MR's govt from 2005-2008 do regarding this including KDU which was established in 1980s and was made a University late 80s? Did JVP (wimal , AKD, etc) ever asked the govt they were a party since 1994 to do so?
