And I'm saying you wouldn't have been satisfied either way
    🤷‍♂️

Don't you think it's too early to judge that, which you have though it hypothetically. Let's shall point what lacks in real time.

I heard Jonathan wastelling recently at a political debate, government has enough money as we can be optimistic with the fund management as the statement was given by a cab. minister,

Pardon me for any mistakes 🙏😜

    Sorry it's Jonstan

Yo Ma Sauce Guy ! sorry Source Guy,

why the hell govt didn't place this order before ! don't tell me they had to wait till WHO approves the respected vaccine, then how about west as they were placing their orders since last year Dec, months before the official approval from different bodies such as FDA, NHS etc. they were looking at the potential and had foreseen the possible outcomes !

*pardon me for my grammatical mistakes in case if you find any :P

You don't know much about how rich countries ordered vaccines. It was like this: US funded billions of dollers to companies like Pfizer, Aztraseneca etc to develop a vaccine with a agreement to get certain number of doses if they succeed in finding a vaccine. But as u cn see it's a risky investment bcz some vaccines won't even go to phase 3 trials. But they did it anyway as they are rich. Similarly UK did invested, so did Canada etc. But poor countries like us could not take such a risk investment so they had to wait till phase 3 trials to order vaccines from these companies but they were far down the line as rich countries already had secured millions of doses. Understanding this WHO came in as mediator and hence came COVAX program but it was kind of a failure now as rich countries already had prior agreements between companies.

It's obvious that Sri Lanka has no coordination in giving vaccine to it's ppl in this digital age. I was just talking about difficulty in buying vaccines for poor countries which includes Sri Lanka.

I will not argue further, all I can say is, SL could have secured more doses, vaccination drive was completely a mess, testing oh don't talk about it

I clearly said, most of The western countries did invest on many vaccine projects by valuing their potential, why did Canada order Pfizer at its trail phases ? Same thing with Moderna , Govts are there to foresee and act accordingly right now it's like closing the stable door after the horse has bolted.

I never expected SL to invest on any vaccines but they could have ordered these vaccines before.

Can you name any vaccine we have purchased so far other than this Chinese one ?

The cvoidshied was a donation under maithree project (not sira), russian one also a donation and China also gave us certain number of jabs as a donation,

My point is, SL should have started this vaccination process before and should have continued it to date, which we have failed to do so,

*Pardon me for any grammatical mistakes made 🙏😜

Sputnik V was not a donation as far as I know. It was a purchase. Russia is struggling to distribute SV due to 2 different virus vectors.

"Sri Lanka received a consignment of 15,000 Russian vaccines early this week out of an order for 13 million of Sputnik doses" - The Hindu

I saw the president's media press release as well. It said it was a purchase. Can you point to a source that says that it was a donation. I am curious

It wasn't an article, I heard it, all I know is, first consignment was a donation which contained 150,000 doses.

China also followed the same, then we ordered, I really don't care how we gonna get the doses , all we need is the doses that's all

It had only 15,000 doses not 150,000. I am damn sure it was not a donation.

Also the AZ few doses were donation. But most of them were purchase.

Anyway I agree with your other point. They should have ordered vaccine at the earliest window they had. Instead "Pakaya" did what they capable of and "mutti devi" must be hanged for heinous crimes she has been doing all these years.

Baiyas posting in this thread still do not want to admit that Nandasena failed to take necessary actions at the correct moment. Promoting Pani and Mutti instead of placing orders for vaccine at the same time with other western countries.
