I don't think Aus. government issue PR like before anymore. When I migrate (in 1990) there was only one visa for migrants. It's PR with no conditions attached. After 2 years migrants can apply for citizenship.
Migrants being granted PR, even before they set foot here. All the government benefits including (Dole) job search allowance, Medicare, Health Care card for cheaper transport, car registration, electricity/gas, rent assistance etc paid from the day we come here. If any migrant wish to continue any higher studies it's almost free at that time.
Now whatever the visa conditions, you will have to fulfil those requirements before eligible for PR. I am not sure what's the waiting period now. And I am not sure what other benefits available for new migrants too.
Australia is not heaven. We all have to work hard, but it will be rewarded by a fair pay. The lifestyle, modern facilities, freedom, lawfulness etc etc is 100 times better than sri lanka.
If anyone wish to come to Australia, they should not ask the opinion from others. Some may describe this as heaven, some may as hell, but it's neither of those. It's a good country to live if you willing to sacrifice few years of hard work and settle down.
Furthermore, don't pay any 'migration consultants' for your applications. Just log on to Aus gov.websites and find out all the details.
I just heard today, Aus. gov. going to reduce qualified migrant intake from 190,000 to 160,000 from next financial year. So, early bird gets the worm.
