For millions of years birds have been evolving. Chicken egg shells are in fact quite strong. The amazing strength of eggs comes from a nanostructured mineral associated with osteopontin, a matrix protein which is also found in composite biological materials such as our bones. Also the shells get thinner and weak enough before hatching begins, so that the little chick can peck it open from within inside.
Also the eggshell's curved arch shape distributes pressure all around the egg giving it the strength. The egg is strongest at its top and bottom.
