ජනාධිපතිගේ වාහන 172 ක් තවමත් අතුරුදන්

ජනාධිපති ලේකම් කාර්යාලයට අනුයුක්තව තිබූ රථවාහන අවභාවිතයට ලක්ව තිබෙන බවට පොලීසියට ලැබුණු පැමිණිල්ලකට අනුව සිදුකරන පරීක්ෂණවලට අනුව ජනාධිපති කාර්යාලය සතුව තිබූ වාහන 172 ක් අතුරුදන්ව ඇතැයි සොයාගෙන තිබේ.
පොලිස්පතිවරයාට ලැබුණු පැමිණිල්ලකට අනුව අපරාධ පරීක්ෂණ දෙපාර්තමේන්තුවේ සහකාර පොලිස් අධිකාරිවරයෙකුට මේ පිළිබඳ සොයාබලන ලෙස පොලිස්පතිවරයා විසින් නියෝග කර ඇත.
මේ අනුව සිදුකළ පරික්ෂණවලට අනුව ජනාධිපති කාර්යාලය සතුව වාහන 752 ක් තිබූ බවට සොයාගෙන ඇත.
මෙම ප්‍රමාණයෙන් වාහන 379 ක් විවිධ පුද්ගලයන් විසින් රැගෙන ගොස් පසුව භාර දී තිබෙන බවට සොයාගෙන තිබෙන අතර, තවත් වාහන 201 ක් ආරක්ෂක අංශ ප්‍රධානීන් සහ ජනාධිපති කාර්යාලයේ නිලධාරීන් සතුව තිබෙන බවටද හෙළි කරගෙන තිබේ.
එහෙත් තවත් වාහන 172 ක් අතුරුදන්ව පවතින බව අනාවරණය කරගෙන ඇති අතර, ඉදිරි දිනවලදී එම වාහන භාරදීමට කටයුතු නොකළහොත් වාහන අත්අඩංගුවට ගැනීමට විශේෂ මෙහෙයුමක් දියත් කිරීමටත් අපරාධ පරීක්ෂණ දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව සැලසුම් කර ඇත.

Probe into 1,600 vehicle fleet Discovered at presidential yard

A fleet of 1,600 vehicles have been found in the presidential vehicle yard, amongst which a majority has not even been entered in the inventory.

Investigations will soon be launched into this fleet of vehicles,. ..while a group of UNP parliamentarians, who were on a fact finding mission to the Temple Trees, are also looking for details of another fleet of vehicles.
"We have received information about another 80 'Defenders' and we are collecting data on those as well at the moment," a member of the group said.

Meanwhile, President Maithripala Sirisena, in a bid to reform the staff at the Presidential Secretariat has ordered them to cut-off all unwanted expenses. Sources at the President's office revealed that he has put a stop to the habit of decorating the President's official room with fresh flowers thrice a day, distribution of bottled water to him and the staff and other luxuries which the staff used to enjoy thus far.

According to sources, Presidential Secretary P.B. Abeykoon has been given directives to cut down on the staff at the Presidential Secretariat too.
"There is about a 1,500-cadre strength at the Secretariat, which consists of a majority of political appointments, made during last regime. They will be asked to leave while the others, who are in the public service, will be duly transferred to other public institutions, through the Ministry of Public Administration," they said.
