Short answer: usually no. but there are a few exceptions.

When Telegram bots cannot get your phone number​

By default:

• Bots do NOT see your phone number
• Bots do NOT have access to your contacts
• Bots do NOT get your number just because you start or chat with them

A normal bot only sees:

• Your Telegram user ID
• Your username (if you have one)
• Your display name
• Messages you send to the bot

When a bot can get your phone number​

A bot can receive your phone number only if you explicitly share it:

1. You tap “Share Contact”
   • Bots can request your contact using a special button
   • If you tap it, your phone number is sent to the bot
2. You send it manually
   • Typing your number in chat obviously reveals it

Important privacy details​

• Bots cannot secretly access your number
• Bots cannot bypass Telegram privacy settings
• Bots cannot see your number from groups unless you share it

How to stay safe​

• Don’t tap “Share Contact” unless you trust the bot
• Avoid bots asking for unnecessary personal info
• Remove your username if you want to be harder to identify
• Check Settings → Privacy and Security → Phone Number
