Yes.. The Earth is too far out to do any corrections. It takes 11 mins to reach the signals. The landers use their own autonomous decisions on the landing site. NASA has developed this mission based on their past experiences and the new Terrain-Relative-Navigation system is claimed to have 99% success in safely selecting a proper landing site free of hazards.
During the descent & landing, at each major step a special coded signal is sent back to the control room.
As for comms, it does not always rely on the direct link with DSN. There are four NASA orbiters and two ESA orbiters already orbiting Mars and these are used as relays too. The Rover has three antennas (one UHF @ 400MHz and X-Band high-gain, X-Band low-gain @ 7 - 8 GHz)
It's a great achievement and hope the rest of the equipment will function as expected and will last. The old Curiosity Rover, even after 8 years is still active.

The power source is called a "Multi-Mission Radioisotope Thermoelectric Generator" or MMRTG for short. The MMRTG converts heat from the natural radioactive decay of plutonium into electricity. This power system charges the rover's two primary batteries. It's the same technology used in the 2012 Mars Curiosity Rover which is operational even now. Estimated life span of the power source is 14 years.

Yes but the Pathfinder used a parachute to slow down the descent and the lander was covered & cushioned up with air filled balls which helped to bounce and roll on the Martian surface. It was way crude in comparison with the technology now in place. This is an old video explaining the current procedure used with Perseverance Rover.
