I read about this in Quartz Africa some time back. When they were talking about China possibly taking the airport as collateral. But it seems that it has not come to pass. They have gotten a 7 year grace period after negotiation it seems.

But this is not isolated. Kenya is facing a similar issue with China, where part of Mombasa is listed as collateral for a chinese railway loan.
