Guys,
This is not the first car/bike race in Kandy. As i can remember the last one was held on 2000. (or 2001 I dont remember the exact year I was doing A/L at that time) That race was held on part of the "Wewa rauma" and on Rajapihilla Mawatha. If you check a kandy map you will see that route was similar to the 2011. And that race was circling the "Malwathu Maha Viharaya". But no one including the Chief incumbent of Malwathu Maha Viharaya or Diyawadana Nilame made a complaint about that race at that time. So if a car race is not a problem for them why should we make a big deal out of it??
And there were car races around the Kandy lake long before the above race i have mentioned. Also on one of those races, a car jumped out of the trace and fell into the Kandy lake. If you have any relatives in Kandy you can check with them.
As far as i know (and from my experience) you cannot organize anything near the Dalada Maligawa without the approval of Diyawadana nilame and the Kandy police. So if they gave permission to this should we make a big deal out of it??
If you are from Kandy (or check google maps) you know that following Temples/mosques/churches:
Lord Katharagama Temple (Inside the race boundary)
St. Anthony’s Cathedral (Inside the race boundary)
Presbyterian Church (Inside the race boundary)
Wesleyan Church (Inside the race boundary)
Christ Church (Inside the race boundary)
Meera Maccam (20M away from the race boundary)
Grand Muslim Mosque(100m away from the race boundary)
King Street Jumma Mosque (Inside the race boundary)
Hanafi Mosque (Inside the race boundary)
So people can say there was a race circling the above places. So why there are not a single mention about those place. Is it because they (Hindus/Christians/Muslims) don’t care or is it because there is a attempt to start a religious battle??
And finally if this race is a disgrace to Dalada Maligawa/Buddhism I think the people who organized/participated/watched will have their "Kusal/Akusal" accordingly.

) town එකේ ඔය වගේම bikes, sports cars n racin cars තමා තිබුනේ. ඒ race track එක තිබුනේ නුවර වැව වටේට.ඒ කියනේ දළදා මාලිගාව ඉස්සරහින් පාරේ තමා vehicles යන්නේ. වෙන තැනක් නැහැ නේ. මමත් එක බලන්න ගියා
