තමිල්නාඩු කොටි කිරි බී හැදුන ත්රස්තවාදී නලුවා වන ඉලයාතලපති විජේ නැමති නළු බට්ටගේ නවතම බොඩිගාඩ් චිත්රපටයට මහින්ද ආණ්ඩුව ඉඩ දී ඇත.ලංකාවේ සියලුම සිංහලයන් මරා මුහුදට දමා ලංකාව ලෝක සිතියෙමන් මකා දමන බවට මේ නලුවා කරපු තර්ජනයට ලංකාවේ නිවට නියාලු ආන්ඩුව බියවී ඇති අතර, ඉංදියාවට තියෙන බියසුලු කම නිසා මේ චිත්රපටය ලංකාවට ගෙන ඒමට ඉඩ දීමෙන් රටේ අභිමානය පහත හෙලා ඇත. නමුත් මේ චිත්රපට ලංකාවේ පෙන් වුව හොත් මේ චිත්රපට ශාලා වලට ආරක්ෂාවට හමුදාව යෙදවීමට ආණ්ඩුවට සිදුවේ.
The government yesterday welcomed the screening of Tamil
movie Kavalan (The Bodyguard) in Sri Lanka in spite of its main actor, Ilayathalapathy Vijay, throwing his weight behind anti-Sri Lanka campaign over a simmering dispute over Tamil Nadu fishing fleet invading Sri Lanka’s northern waters.
Bandula Jayasekera, Director General of Presidential Media told The Sunday Island that the government wouldn’t give in to what he called "politics of hate.’’ He said that the government appreciated screening of Tamil movies here and in fact it was part of the reconciliation process.
Sri Lanka’s former Consul General in Toronto alleged that Vijay was obviously promoting his image in Tamil Nadu but that shouldn’t be at Sri Lanka’s expense.
Vijay said during a protest campaign held in Nagapattinam on Feb. 23 that Sri Lanka should be wiped off the world map if the Sri Lanka Navy continued to attack Tamil Nadu fishermen.
The actor accused the Indian government and Tamil Nadu administration of failing to protect TN fishermen. He went onto say that as he was raised on Tiger’s milk he would fight for the rights of Tamil people.
Jayasekera said that Vijay was bashing Sri Lanka as he too like many other Tamil Nadu politicians were of the opinion such rhetoric would help them at the forthcoming State Assembly elections.
He pointed out that Vijay, in Kavalan, had acted with Asin Thottumkal, the Kerala-born actress who earned the wrath of an influential section of the South Indian move industry by visiting Sri Lanka to shoot Anees Bazmee’s ‘Ready’ with Bollywood star Salman Khan.
