Not about taking but it might if police officer or any other in the photo have objection for internet posting.

You can't post or upload to youtube if a person or a minor haven't declare you a legal written document stating that he/she has no objection for posting his/her image or video to the internet. If person(s) have a objection, uploader should blur his/her face.

not true, I think. In a public area, anyone has the right to take photos from a distance that doesn't disturb others, as I think. And they have the right for ownership of the photos they have taken. But inside a police station it would be illegal.

I really don't know the rule in Sri Lanka. But in Canada you can't take photos or film video in a public places (park,beach,play ground) specially if minors are present. This law only apply to intruders. (if your kid in a playground or beach you can film or take photos) Most importantly if you post a video of a minor you definitely have to obtain written notice from both parents that they have no objection. The case of police station or hospital in Canada you can video freely. No one asking you why you filming, because all citizens have right to know the information unless it endanger the national security

I also remember one case in a prank video a guy attempted to prank a person in New York, but then again he filed a harassment case against the cameraman because of the filming. Nothing physical or verbal harassment, only filming. In court case was dismissed because cameraman filmed in a public area and us law not required any permission to film in that particular place.
