Not just religions lot of things work this way. Take "Education" for example. How would you feel if you could not achieve high enough grades even if you tried? Why can't everybody become doctors and engineers? They make a good living. Why can't everybody be like that? Is there something fundamentally wrong with majority of STEM pupils? Are they loosers ?

(Consider above a rhetorical question. If you intend to come back with explanation like "nah it's just quotas, many other paths to choose from, unrealistic expectations, think twice. I could say the same)

This is wrong. Kamma is dependant origination ethicized. As such, only a Buddha could penetrate exact Kamma of a being. While we could offer speculation there can be no guarantee.

What they criticize usually are "fake Buddha quotes or comentrial interpretations adapted in to folklore". Buddha is teaching exactly what you said in this paragraph. That is "If you failed, cut your losses and move on. Try something different. Don't try put the blame on something that you cannot even prove".

Some even withouth knowing what the Buddha taught go on to speculate about what the Buddha thought.

You say we don't need to accept. That I agree. Even if you don't "need to" but you might "want to". For example take this. How do you know your mother (biological/birth mother) is truly your mother?

Did you witness your birth from your mother's womb ?
Do you remember her face and you coming out from her ?
Is it because she and others told you so ?
Is it because your birth certificate tells you so ?
Or is it her loving kindness that made you believe ?

Where is the direct experience? Where is the direct knowledge? Even in the absence of any direct evidence, almost all of us believe that our legal mother is our biological mother. Even the adopted children believe so unless thay are convinced otherwise.

Like this we believe "shit" most of our lives just because someone said so. We tend to believe some while we disregard some. IMO this is done one the basis of practicality. Practicality is usually geard towards a goal. People have different goals in their lives. Secular goals such as material wealth and happiness are in stark contrast with Buddhist goal that is Nibbana. If you feel a conflict in accepting such beliefs, maybe you should investigate what goals you truly have for your self. In there you will find the answer. In doing so you will realize, while others may not see eye to eye with me they too have their own reasons in doing so.
