Your argument is not rational man. People wanted GOTA in power for him to implement his policies. But then decides not to give him power inside the parliament hence he wouldn't be able to do what people wanted him to do. Therefore not giving him the required majority in the parliament by voting for other parties doesnt make any sense

There is a clear separation between executive and legislative. Parliament (represents legislative) should support anything better for the country. If there is a good proposal done by government, opposition can vote in favor. 2/3 or even more (Same did for 19th amendment, 215/225 ) Similarly if there is something terrible even ministers from governing side can vote against. That's the whole purpose of parliament, otherwise no point of keeping 225

After the 19th amendment, Gota does not have much power. There is no pure executive president anymore as it used to be before. Even, phottuwa got 2/3, Mahinda would not abolish 19th amendment completely. If he does that, then it would be the end of Namal and most of his goons.
