"Right to remain silent is a right which is recognized worldwide in number of jurisdictions. Sri Lanka recognizes this rule under the criminal law prevails in the country supported by the rights
granted by the fundamental rights chapter in the constitution. Even if this right comes under the Miranda Rights in United States of America, all the rights out of them are not practiced in
Sri Lanka. But right to remain silent is in practice with limitations. Therefore, it is required to identify the loopholes in Sri Lankan law in human rights per se and fill them referring to successful examples and successful legal principles used in the world. Miranda rights are such an experience of America practiced over years and lately adopted by number of countries. It has an advantageous impact over the protection of the rights of arrested suspects. It will have a huge impact, if Miranda rights and other mechanisms discussed above can be adopted to Sri
Lankan law".
