    First this is not a project to transport containers from Maradana! It is to ease the congestion from vehicles transporting people eg cars, buses , vans etc
    So Col Uni Art Faculty Prof Gunaruwan had not read the feasibility report. eg he said that this railway line only shorten length of time of journey from Maradana to Homagama by 30 minutes. This is not correct , time save is more than 2 and half hours. The 30 minute Prof talked was alternate line which was rejected without bends which save 30 minutes! But the project had rejected that proposal considering cost effectiveness. Our Prof had not even read the feasibility studies and other Engineers on the committee are silent due to his political clout! I feel sorry for GR having such people as advisors

    Of course they know that. Feel sorry for the people in the country.. Not for GR or any other politicians. The achieved what they want. They didn't want this project to go ahead. That's why Gonruwan was selected in the first instance, not because there aren't others more knowledgeable.
    Bottom line is that the Japanese will not pay commissions to corrupt politicians. So simply it cannot be a Japanese funded project. It has to be only Chinese.
    Corruption is endemic in our system, right from the very top to the bottom. :(
