මම දවසක් යාළුවෙක්ගෙ ගෙදරක ගිය වෙලෙ වුන සිදුවීමක් පදනම් කරගෙන තමයි මේ කතාව ලියන්නේ. යාලුවගෙ ගෙදර ඉන්නව හරිම ලස්සන පොමනේරියන් බලු පැටියෙක්. අපි හැමොම බලු පැටවුන්ට කැමතියි නේ හුරතල් කරන්න එහෙම. ඉතින් යාලුවයි මායි ගේට්ටුව ලග කයිය ගගහ ඉන්න කොට ඒ පාරෙම කොනේ ගෙදරක ඉන්න මුස්ලිම් පවුලෙ කෙනෙක් එනව කඩේ ගිහින් එන ගමන්. බලු පැටව් කොහොමත් නන්නාදුනන කෙනෙක්ගෙන් වුනත් හුරතල් වෙන්න යනවනේ. අර මනුස්සයා අපි ඉන්න තැන පහු කලා විතරයි බලු පැටියා එයාගෙ පස්සෙන් ගිහින් වලිගෙ වන වනා කකුල ලෙව කන්න හැදුවා. මේ මනුස්සයා මූව දැක්ක විතරයි හිරිකිතියෙන් වාගේ දගලලා අතේ තිබ්බ මල්ලත් කිහිල්ලට අරගෙන බලු පැටියට පයින් ගහන්න හැදුවා. ඒක හරිම අසාමාන්‍ය ක්‍රියාවක් මොකද වෙන කවුරුත් හුරතල් වෙන්න එන බලු පැටියන්ට පයින් නොගහන හිංදා. කොහොම හරි අපි ඉන්න නිසා ගැහුවෙ නෑ එත් හිරිකිතෙන්වගේ උරහිස් උස්සගෙන විළුඹෙන් ඉස්සි ඉස්සි දැගළුව. මගෙ යාලුවා ගිහින් ටක් ගාල බලු පැටියා අරගෙන ආවා මොකො බලු පැටියාට අනතුරක් වෙයි කියලා. කෙසේ වෙතත් ඒ සිදුවීම මට හරිම අසාමාන්‍ය දෙයක් වුනා. ඒ ගැන හොයල බලන්න ඕනා වුනා.

ඉතිං මට හොයා ගන්න පුළුවන් වුනා ඇයි මේ මුස්ලිම් අයට බල්ලො හිරිකිත කියලා. පහත තියෙන්නේ ඒ සොයා ගැනීම.

පහත තියෙන්නේ කුරාණය පිළිබද ජොර්දානු රාජධානියේ නිල වෙබ් අඩවියේ උපුටා ගන්නා ලද කොටසක්.


(They ask thee (O Muhammad) what is made lawful for them…) [5:4]. Abu Bakr al-Harithi informed us> Abu’l-Shaykh al-Hafiz> Abu Yahya> Sahl ibn ‘Uthman> Yahya ibn Abi Za’idah> Musa ibn ‘Ubayda> Aban ibn Salih> al-Qa‘qa’ ibn Hakim> Salma Umm Rafi‘> Abu Rafi‘ who said: “The Messenger of Allah, Allah bless him and give him peace, commanded me to kill dogs. But people said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, what is made lawful for us from this community [of dogs] which we are commanded to kill?’ And so Allah, exalted is He, revealed (They ask thee (O Muhammad) what is made lawful for them. Say: (all) good things are made lawful for you. And those beasts and birds of prey)”. This was narrated by al-Hakim Abu ‘Abd Allah in his Sahih> Abu Bakr ibn Balawayh> Muhammad ibn Shadhan> Mu‘alla ibn Mansur> Ibn Abi Za’idah. The commentators of the Qur’an said in explanation of this story: “Said Abu Rafi‘: ‘Gabriel, peace be upon him, went to see the Prophet, Allah bless him and give him peace, but did not enter in on the Prophet even though he was granted permission to enter. The Messenger of Allah, Allah bless him and give him peace, came out and said to him: ‘We have given you permission to enter, O Gabriel!’ He said: ‘Yes, you have, O Messenger of Allah, except that we do not enter a house where there is a picture or a dog’. They looked around and found that there was a puppy in one of the rooms’. Abu Rafi‘ said: ‘The Prophet, Allah bless him and give him peace, commanded me to kill every dog in Medina. I proceeded with the execution of the command until I reached al-‘Awali where I found a woman who kept a dog for her protection. Out of compassion for her, I did not kill her dog. I went back to the Prophet, Allah bless him and give him peace, and informed him of what had happened, and he commanded me to go back and kill it. I went back and killed it. When the Messenger of Allah, Allah bless him and give him peace, commanded the killing of dogs, a group of people went to him and said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, What is lawful for us of this community that we have been commanded to kill?’ The Messenger of Allah, Allah bless him and give him peace, did not answer, and then Allah, exalted is He, revealed this verse.

dont know from where u got that information.but what u mentioned was wrong. its true that having a dog is not allowed form us to raise.but as u told not allowed to kill dogs.

Narated By Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, "While a man was walking on a road. he became very thirsty. Then he came across a well, got down into it, drank (of its water) and then came out. Meanwhile he saw a dog panting and licking mud because of excessive thirst. The man said to himself "This dog is suffering from the same state of thirst as I did." So he went down the well (again) and filled his shoe (with water) and held it in his mouth and watered the dog. Allah thanked him for that deed and forgave him." The people asked, "O Allah's Apostle! Is there a reward for us in serving the animals?" He said, "(Yes) There is a reward for serving any animate (living being)." – [Bukhari Vol. 8, Book 73, #38] & [Muslim Book 26, Chapter 39, # 5577]

the only reason dogs haram is their saliva.we dont touch dogs coz it used to wipe its body with its tongue.

Ibn Mughaffal reported: Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) ordered the killing of dogs and then said: what is the trouble with them (the people of Medina)? How dogs are nuisance to them (the citizens of Medina)? He then permitted keeping of dogs for hunting and (the protection of) herds. In the hadith transmitted on the authority of Yahya, he (the Holy Prophet) permitted the keeping of dogs for (the protection of) herds, for hunting and (the protection of) cultivated land. – [Muslim Book 10, Chapter 31, #3814]

its ok.,coz many of here even dont get the point even after explaining thousand times.

we love pets but not dogs or pigs.

1..dogs coz of its saliva and it used to wipe its body with the tongue.so we consider touching it as dirty/ najees.

2.. we can have pets like rabbits and cats ect...dont have any problem in that.

3..we dont keep birds as pets coz keeping them in cages is a sin so many muslims avoid having birds as their pets.

Thanks machan for educating. I agree with the bird thing. It IS a sin. I've seen people keeping parrots in cages like small orbs! sometimes its' width is smaller than the bird's wingspan!

yeah..even i dont like cats and their look is scary.but their saliva is not a impure as dog's.

anyway we can keep dogs for certain purposes, such as hunting, guarding livestock and protecting crops.so this thread which is telling that we can kill them is rubbish.
