Degree එකක් කියන්නෙ මිනිහෙක්ට value එකක්. සල්ලි කියන්නෙ වෙනම දෙයක්. උබට ඕනෙනන් පුලුවන් construnction, developing දෙකම එකට සෙට් වෙන විදියෙ දෙයක් කරන්න. ඒ වගේ දේකට ලොකු වටිනාකමකුත් තියෙයි. අනික online දේවල් කියන්නෙ කොයි වෙලේ කෙල වෙයිද දන්නෑ. ඒත් degree ය තියෙනවනන් උබ safe. ඉගෙන ගන්න දෙයක් අහක යන්නෙ නෑ,

Dont EVEN THINK ABOUT giving up your degree !!! IT industry can dramtically change in overnight and its not wise to throwing your once in a liftetime golden oppertunity to something just got evolved during last two decades !

Im also graduated from Pera - Elec ! so i know how things going around in uni.. You will definately get graduated.stick with good friends.take exams seriouly.no need to get A+ for all subjects ! ! just hang on and survive the semesters ! .. Trust me... i have seen how people stuck in same positions(life and carrier) for years because of lack of a completed degree ... The country where im currently resides (EU), Bsc is the minimum qualification (entry) and i have seen many people who already in their 40s,50s following Msc and PhD courses , Just inorder to get promoted !!!

කරන Degree එක class නැත්ත ඉවර කරගනින්. මගෙ යාළුවෙක් ඉන්නව පොරගෙ ඩිග්‍රි එක Material Eng ඒත් ජොබ් එක Software Architecture , Software පැත්තට මොකවත් ඩ්‍රිග්‍රි නෑ එක්ස්පීරියන්ස් එක තියෙන්නෙ. අනික බන් ඔය එන එන ෆ්‍රේම් වර්ක් දන්නව කියන එක නන් එච්චර ඔළුවට ගන්න එපා ඔව්ව හෙට උදේ වෙනකොට අවුට් ඔෆ් ඩේට් වෙන්න පුළුවන්. ඒව යූස් කරනකොට ඒවගෙ කෝ එක අල්ලගනින්.

කරන deg එක මොන සෙල්ලමක් දාල හරි ඉවර කරපන්. නැත්තන් උබට ඕක දිගටම පුරුද්දට යනව හරි කමක් නෑ මේක නැති උනාට මම මෙහෙම කරනව ඉස්සරහට කියන මයින්ඩ් සෙට් එක.

Deg එකේ කොලේ විතරයි වැදගත් ඊට පසේ ඇතුලෙ තියෙන්නෙ මොකද්ද කියන එක උබේ එක්ස්පීරියන්ස් එකෙන් වැඩක් නැති කරන්න පුළුවන්.

අනික බන් ඔන්ලයින් කියන්නෙ පට්ට චාන්ස් එකක්. හොද බොක්කවල් දෙකක් 3නක් සෙට් කරගෙන කුප්පි දාල ගොඩ දාගනින් ඔය අල්ලනෙ නැති සබ්ජෙක්ට්. C- හරි තියාගෙන ඔය කරන එක ඉවර කරපන්.

උබ ඕක කරේ නැත්තන් කවද හරි ඉස්සරහට ගිහින් ඔය උබල දෙන්නගෙ කම්පැනිය ලොකු උනාම උබව වැටෙනව පහලට එදාට උබට අපරාදෙ කියල ආයෙ නූලක් දාන්න වෙනව

අපරාදෙ උබගෙ කාලෙ. කමක් නෑ තවම වෙලාව තියෙනවා දැන්ම තේරුණ නිසා.

1. කොහොමහරි degree එක ඉවරකරපන් අනිවා certificate එක ගනින්. නැත්තන් අර කලින් කියපු එකම තමයි ආපහු කියන්න වෙන්නෙ.
2. ඊට පස්සෙ civil ජොබ් හොයන්න එපා, ඊට කලින් ඔය උබ කරන IT field එක පැත්තෙ ජොබක් හොයාගන්න ට්‍රයි කරපන් අවුට් උන ගමන්ම. අවුට් උන ගමන් චාන්ස් එක තියෙනවා. (උබට ජොබක් ඕන නෑ කියල හිතෙයි, ඒ උනාට මම නම් කියන්නෙ ඉස්සෙල්ලා ජොබකට ගිහින් පස්සෙ අයින්වෙයන් යන විදිය බලලා, මොකද ඔය දේ උබට කරන්න බැරිවෙයි අවුරුදු කීපයක් ගියාම experience නැතුව. )

කොහොම උනත් උබ ලේසි pathway එකෙන් අමාරු pathway එකට ඇවිත් ඉන්නෙ. කට්ට කන්න වෙයි ඉතින්. බැරි නෑ ඒවුනාට.

එපාවෙනව මේ $%#%$ අලුතෙන් පෝස්ට් එකක් දාන්න බෑ. අර තව එකෙක් කිව්ව වගේ ඌට CS එපාවෙලා Civil කරන්න බලනවලු. stress එක කොයි ජොබ් එකෙත් තියෙනවා කොයි business එකෙත් තියෙනවා. ඒක අපිට tolerate කරන්න පුලුවන් මොනවමහරි අපි කැමති දෙයක් නම් කරන්නෙ. ඒ නිසා මුලින් ඒක කරපන් කැමති දේ. එතකොට ඉස්සරහට ලෝකේ එන්න තියෙන trends වත්, ගොඩක් සල්ලි හොයන්න පුලුවන් කියල හිතෙන දේවල් නම් කරන්න එපා කියලයි මම කියන්නෙ. කැමති දේ කරාම ඔය ඔක්කොම කරගන්න විදියක් තියෙයි. මම මේක උබට කියන්න වගේ මට නෑදෑයෙක් කිව්ව. මම ගනන් ගත්තෙ නෑ.

මම සිවිල් ඉන්ජෙක් වෙලා ලංකාවෙ අවුරුදු 3ක් වැඩ කරා. පස්සෙ ඕසි ආවා, පළවෙනි දේ ජොබ් එක එපාවීම.(මම මේක කලිනුත් උබේ thread එකකම කියල තියෙනවා) මෙහේ ඇවිල්ලත් මම තේරුම් ගත්ත දේ තමයි බුදු සංතෝ සිවිල් සයිට් ජොබ් නම් ලංකාවෙ වගේම තමයි, ඊටත් වඩා කට්ට සෙට්වෙයි සමහරවිට. පට්ට සීතලයි, පට්ට අව්වයි, etc etc (මගේ අත්දැකීම් සහ මම දන්න අයගේ ජොබ් දැකල ගත්ත අත්දැකීම්.)

දැන් මමත් පසුතැවෙනවා IT related degree(CS,electronic,electrical etc) එකක් කරේ නැති එකට. මොකද ඒක නැතුව ජොබ් එකකට යන්න පට්ටම අමාරුයි. මමත් දැන් field එක වෙනස් කරන්න plan එක හද හද ඉන්නෙ. අවුරුදු ගානක් පහුවෙච්ච නිසා උබට වඩා ගොඩක් අමාරුයි මට ඒ වැඩේ කරන්න. ආපහු කට්ටක් කන්න වෙන්නෙ. ඒ උනාට කොහොමහරි කරන්න වෙනවා.

As many advised here, complete the Degree. You have achieved what's difficult - to get into the Uni. Now don't spoil that chance. Not only you are spoiling it for yourself, you are spoiling the chance of another as well. Had you decided earlier that engineering is not the way ahead and kept aside, then the next deserving student would have got the chance to get in.

A Degree is not the pathway to complete success. But as I mentioned on another thread it opens up the doors to many others. You could be a good software guy. Your friend is in the Engineering stream for software but you are not. With your degree plus experience you can migrate to Canada, Australia, NewZealand or Timbuktu without seeking other backdoor entry methods.
Though you say you are a Software Engineer you don't have a real qualification. In fact, the majority are just software developers or programmers. They only call themselves software engineers.
Without a proper qualification, your scope is rather limited - and that's where the degree counts. With a degree and with proper presentation skills and the ability to market yourself, you will end up being in a much better place.
Having a Civil engineering degree will not restrict you to that field only. Many have changed to other fields including IT. In fact, the best software guys are Engineers.

degree එක කරගනින් උලමෝ. උඹට හැකියාව නැති වෙන්නේ නෑ ඔය දැනට තියන. startup එකක් නම් ඒක ඊට වඩා හොඳට ඉස්සරහට පටන් ගන්නත් පුළුවන්. උඹ මොකක් හරි degree එකක් තියනවා කියන්නේ, උඹට තවත් පැත්තක හැකියාවක් වර්ධනය වෙනවා. ඒක උඹට වාසියක්. ඒ අවස්ථාව බොහොම සීමිත පිරිසකට ලැබෙන අවස්ථාවක්. එක නැති කරගන්න එපා. balance එකක් ගහපන් මහන්සි වෙලා.
