We believe that what Blaine showed is the top card, but I think he showed the bottom card. The way he is taking the bottom card looks like he is actually taking it from the top. There is a technique for that kind of revealing, and I can't remember it now. Additionally, it is easy to show the bottom card as the top card for a small number of card piles. In most cases, spectators don't put a significant number of cards onto the palm because it takes much time and is quite boring. If he puts quite a few cards on the palm, I'm sure that Blaine has a plan B as well.
