The Salaries of every government employees has been increased by 27 percent.
The National Salaries Commission says that the preparation of a new salary structure for government employees, as proposed through the budget, has commenced. Accordingly, the minimum salary of public servants has been increased to 15,000 rupees from 11,000 rupees. Co-Chairman of the commission Nevil Piyadigama says that the salary of every state sector employee will be increased by 27 percent. The new salary scheme will be implemented from the middle of next year. Any arrears will be paid during the relevant month. Mr. piyadigama adds that the new structure will be prepared in a manner to eliminate the existing salary anomalies.
