A team of researchers at IBM has produced the first Atomic Force Microscope (AFM) with a carbon monoxide tip. Using this new device, they’ve produced the first real images of a molecule. the pics of the pentacene molecule, they’re one of a kind.

As I mentioned in another post the carbon monoxide tip images were not conclusive enough and the H bond was suspect to be an artefact.
However, now copper oxide tip was used and and improved images still showed the bond.
