Looks like Silver Peanut Butter Fruit. Native to the South Americas. Brazil, Peru, Venezuela etc. I am not so sure about any health benefits - but said to contain Lycopene - a type of organic pigment called a carotenoid. It is related to beta-carotene and gives some vegetables and fruits (e.g., tomatoes) a red color.

    ගෙවල් ලඟ කට්ටියක්. ගෙවල් කිට්ටුව ගොඩ දෙනෙකුට බෙදල.
There are several fruits that are native to the South Americas. eg Açaí eastern Amazonia, especially in Brazil, mainly in swamps and floodplains, Feijoa - also called Pinapple Guava, (Acca sellowiana), small evergreen tree of the myrtle family (Myrtaceae), related to the guava. It is native to southern Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, and parts of Argentina (someone grows these in Nuwara Eliya and I recall our friend @IndrajithGamage posted once they do have a plant at their place) and this Silver Peanut Butter Fruit. These are edible fruits and don't worry to consume them.

I tried one, and there was no distinctive taste - neither sweet nor sour. Maybe it wasn't ripe enough. However, the smell reminded me of කොට්ටං which I haven't tasted since childhood. I, too, looked for any information pertaining to potential health benefits, especially towards maintaining a healthy heart, but did not find any specific studies other than articles about Peanut Butter. It could be a case of misinformation since they seem to believe this is genuinely good for the heart, and I did not find any adverse side effects online severe enough to tell them 😅.
