ප්රකාශන හිමිකම් සම්බන්ඳව අන්තයට ගිය ඇමරිකානු කෙටුම්පත් වන මේවා සම්මත වූවොත් ඉදිරියේදී නොමිලේ සේවා සපයන ආයතන හා වෙබ් අඩවි වලට එමඟින් බාධා ඇතිවන අතර නොමිලේ ෆිල්ම් ඩවුන්ලෝඩ් කිරීම, නොමිලේ සින්දු ඇසීම ආදී නොමිලේ අන්තර්ජාල සේවාවන් සපයන ආයතන වලට හානියක් වන බවයි වාර්තා වෙන්නේ.
එක්සත් ජනපද කොංග්රසයේ විවාදයට ලක්වී තිබෙන Sopa සහ Pipa ලෙස හැඳින්වෙන අන්තර්ජාලය සම්බන්ධයෙන් ගෙන ඒමට නියමිත පනත් කෙටුම්පත් දෙක මගින්, පරිශීලකයන්ගේ පෞද්ගලිකත්වයට හානි පැමිණෙන බව බොහෝ දෙනෙක් පවසනවා.
මේ සම්බන්ධයෙන් බීබීසී පුවත්සේවයට කරුණු දැක්වූ විකිපීඩියා විශ්වකෝෂයේ ආරම්භකයා වන ජිමී වේල්ස් පෙන්වා දෙන්නේ මෙම පනත්වල මූලික අරමුණ ලෙස සැළකෙන සයිබර් වංචාවන් වැළැක්වීම සඳහා මේවාට කිසිවක් කළ නොහැකි බවයි.
මෙයට විරෝධ පෑමක් ලෙස විකිපීඩියා වෙබ් අඩවිය අද උදෑසන 10.30 සිට ක්රියාත්මක වෙන්නේ නෑ. පැය 24ක් පුරා මෙම විරෝධය ඔවුන් පවත්වන අතර ඉදිරියේදී Google, Facebook ආදියද එක්වීමට නියමිතව ඇතයි වාර්තා වෙනවා.
මෙය ඇමරිකාවේ කෙටුම්පතක් (3261) ප්රකාශන හිමිකම සම්බන්ධව... ප්රකාශන හිමිකම් ලබාදිය යුතුයි... නමුත් මෙය එහි අන්තයට ගිය කෙටුම්පතක්... මෙමගින් සියලුම පයිරසි Piracy වෙබ් අඩවි වලට තහන්චි වැටෙනවා(piratebay,IPT and all other torrent sites, mediafire,fileserve etc)

Anonymous Reacts to Megaupload Takedown With “Largest Attack Ever”

'Anonymous' hackers claim to take down Justice Department website in retaliation for Megaupload shutdown
WASHINGTON – Hackers aligned with the global cyber-collective known as Anonymous have claimed responsibility for taking down at least six prominent websites, including those of the US Department of Justice and Universal Music Group, in retaliation for charges levied earlier Thursday against content-sharing site Megaupload.com.
Both Universalmusic.com and Justice.gov crashed Thursday afternoon and remained down as of 6:50pm ET.
The group also said it brought down the websites of the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA), the US Copyright Office and the Utah Chiefs of Police Association.
As of 6:50pm ET, only the MPAA website remained functional. The RIAA site and the Copyright Office sites were both down, while the Utah Chiefs of Police site had been altered to show the logo for Megaupload.com.
The group also threatened that the FBI's website would be hacked next.
"Word has it that FBI.gov is next to go down... will report when it is," a Twitter account affiliated with the group said.
The account, under the name @YourAnonNews identifies itself on Twitter as the infamous hacker collective, saying "We are Anonymous, We are legion, We never forgive, We never forget, Expect us."
Earlier Thursday, the FBI shut down Megaupload.com and charged the site's founders and five others with internet piracy crimes for running "an international organized criminal enterprise."
"The government takes down Megaupload? 15 minutes later Anonymous takes down government & record label sites," the group wrote earlier Thursday.
"Megaupload was taken down w/out SOPA being law. Now imagine what will happen if it passes. The Internet as we know it will end. FIGHT BACK," the group added, in a reference to the ongoing battle in Congress over the controversial Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA).
The proposed legislation would crack down on the online sharing of pirated copies of music, movies and other material.
Investigators said there was no connection between arrests in their two-year investigation of Megaupload.com and the political firestorm that erupted this week over the pending vote on SOPA, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Megaupload Founder Kim Schmitz Arrested and Cars Seized

Many long-time GTspirit readers and forum members will recognise the name Kim Schmitz as the two-time Gumball 3000 participant ‘Kimble’. Yesterday, the US Department of Justice asked the New Zealand authorities to arrest Kim, now known as Kim Dotcom, and his colleagues for large-scale copyright infringement. His website Megaupload.com was shut down and cars, cash, shotguns and artwork were seized from ten New Zealand homes.
The indictment states that Megaupload has caused copyright holders $ 500 million in lost revenue from pirated films, albums and other materials. The move comes just one day after several prominent websites such as Wikipedia, Reddit and Wired went ‘dark’ for 24 hours on Wednesday as a form of protest against the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA). SOPA aims to be the first legislative step to a ‘policed’ internet. Something internet users, bloggers and news outlets, including GTspirit, have rallied against.
Amongst the cars seized were three Mercedes-Benz CLK DTM’s, a Lamborghini LM002, a Maserati GranCabrio, a Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG, a Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG, a Mercedes-Benz C65 AMG and a Rolls-Royce Phantom Drop Head Coupe. A number had typically Kim numberplates including a ‘GOOD’ and ‘EVIL’ Mercedes-Benz CLK DTM, a ‘GOD’ Rolls-Royce Phantom Drop Head Coupe, a ‘GUILTY’ Mercedes-Benz ML63 AMG and a ‘HACKER’ Mercedes-Benz CL63 AMG.
Kim had recently come out of hiding, a number of his cars were spotted in Europe last summer. He lived in Hong Kong and New Zealand and held dual citizen of Finland and Germany. He was arrested alongside two other German citizens and one Dutch citizen. Three others – another German, a Slovakian and an Estonian – are still wanted by law enforcement officers. Interestingly, the company CEO, Swizz Beats of Lotus fame is not named on the indictment.
The hacking group Anonymous reacted to the news almost instantly by launching one of their biggest attacks to date. They took down the Universal Music, RIAA (the record industry’s lobbying arm), MPAA (the movie industry’s lobbying arm), and Department of Justice websites.
This isn’t the first time Kim has been arrested by law authorities. Back 2002, Schmitz was arrested in Bangkok, Thailand and deported to Germany where he got an one year eight month sentence for insider-trading offences.
