මෙම වෙබ් අඩවිය විශාල ෆයිල්ස් හුවමාරු කර ගැනීමේ ලොව ඇති ජනප්රියම වෙබ් අඩවියක් වන අතර ඇලෙක්සා රෑන්ක් අනුවද ලොව ජනප්රියම වෙබ් අඩවි 100 අතර පවතිනවා. මෙම වෙබ් අඩවියේ නිර්මාතෘ Kim Schmitz මේ වන විට අත්අඩංගුවට ගෙන ඇති අතර තවත් පිරිස් අත්අඩංගුවට ගැනීමට නියමිත බවයි වාර්තා වන්නේ.
හොංකොංහි P.O. Box 28410,Gloucester Road Post Office,Wan Chai නමැති ලිපිනයට ලියාපදිංචි මෙම Megaupload වෙබ් අඩවිය සතු මිලියන ගණනක දේපලද අත්හිටුවා තිබෙනවා.

Megaupload හී හිමිකරුකෙසේ වෙතත් මේ අතර ඇමරිකානු රජය විසින් SOPA හා PIPA යනුවෙන් නීති කෙටුම්පත් දෙකක් හඳුන්වාදීමට සූදානම්වෙන අතර එම නීති සම්මත වුනහොත් අන්තර්ජාලය තුලින් නොමිලේ ෆිල්ම්ස්,ගීත ආදිය ඩවුන්ලෝඩ් කිරීමට බාදා පැමිණෙන බව ගොසිප්9 මිට පෙර "ප්රකාශන හිමිකම් පනතට විරෝධය පා විකිපීඩියා වර්ජනයේ" යනුවෙන් ලිපියක් පළකරමින් ඔබට දැනුම්දුන්නා.

මෙම නීති කෙටුම්පත් වලට වෙබ් අඩවි දහස් ගණනක් සිය විරෝධය දක්වා තිබෙන අතර මෙම සබැදියෙන් ඔබට එම වෙබ් අඩවි ලැයිස්තුව බලාගත හැකියි.
මෙම නව පනතට හා Megaupload වෙබ් අඩවිය තහනම් කිරීමට විරෝධය පාමින් බොහෝ දෙනෙකු ඇමරිකානු රජය සතු ආයතන, ධවල මන්දිරය, ජනාධිපති ඔබාමා ආදීන්ගේ ෆේස්බුක් පිටුවල විවිද සටහන් තබා ඇති අතර ඒවායින් කිහිපයක් පහත දක්වා තිබෙනවා.

SOPA Is Dead: Smith Pulls Bill

Lamar Smith, the chief sponsor of SOPA, said on Friday that he is pulling the bill “until there is wider agreement on a solution.”
“I have heard from the critics and I take seriously their concerns regarding proposed legislation to address the problem of online piracy,” Smith (R-Texas) said. “It is clear that we need to revisit the approach on how best to address the problem of foreign thieves that steal and sell American inventions and products.”
Smith also released the following statement on Friday:

Congress cannot stand by and do nothing while American innovators and job creators are under attack.

“The Committee will continue work with copyright owners, Internet companies, financial institutions to develop proposals that combat online piracy and protect America’s intellectual property. We welcome input from all organizations and individuals who have an honest difference of opinion about how best to address this widespread problem. The Committee remains committed to finding a solution to the problem of online piracy that protects American intellectual property and innovation.”
