I think your problem is not the Sri Lankan lifestyle or culture. It sounds like you are being controlled too much from your parents/siblings. May be they are too religious or conservative in their beliefs and lifestyle.

May be the only way out is to move abroad, but don't keep too many hopes.

1. Indian culture is everywhere. Whole of Europe, North America, Australia and so on - may be except China and Japan. Thanks to idiot Trump's anti-China policies, more Indians will control global manufacturing and service industries. You can't avoid it. Indian culture is bad but compared to Koreans and Japanese, they are helpful and not very racist towards Sri Lankans. Although Koreans are pretty and our monks promote Japan due to Buddhism, those two are the most racist countries on this planet.
2. One of the problems I see is you are freelancing. That's not a good thing. Doesn't add value to the CV. You might struggle to find jobs. Contrary to the popular belief about suddas, they do look at the CV. I worked for some top companies in SL as well as overseas before I moved out permanently. I didn't find it hard to get a job. But many people (from some top Sri Lankan companies in SL who migrated at the same time as I did, are still struggling).
3. You mentioned MIT. I know some guys from MIT and their other company (BSS or something which was in Trace expert city) who moved to the UK and got jobs at LSE. They seem to find it relatively easy. That's one option you should consider.

Other option is ask your parents/relatives to f*ck off and move out.

Aww 2nd point is a bit tricky. I'm working full time in a company, have good academics and working experience with 3 companies so far and the company loves me too, they'll do anything to keep me there .. ( I guess ), and there is a whole development team working under me .. ( 5 ppl ) .. yet lfe is not satisfying enough.
