I think the incident is most unfortunate and all perpetrators should be punished to the full extent of Law.

However I’m against your opinion of categorising some people ගෝත්‍රික based on their different view on the incident.
Everyone is entitled to an opinion, that doesn't guarantee that their viewpoint is correct, but that won't stop them from expressing it.

There is a little thing called freedom of expression in universal declaration of human rights. So you have to respect others opinion and you cannot segregate people based on their point of view,
