So this is not a ranking about the standard or quality of the passport. Its to do with money. I find the topic misleading.

When we talk about the entry visa requirements, it has a lot to do with the wealth of the country. If the people are rich, then a lot of countries will open their gates for visitors from that country. This is because the visitors will spend their money in the foreign country, so they effectively bring income. Also, if the people are rich, they will eventually return to their country. So, the problem is related to poverty not the passport.

And if you expect the government can do 'jack about it' you are mistaken. Its not only the government, but also the private sector and the countrymen together can build wealth for the nation. Do your part for the country, and hope everyone does the same. In time we will get there... hopefully

Not really. Sri Lanka is on the middle level when it comes to income and social indicators. Out of about 200 countries worldwide, Sri Lanka ranks 99th in GDP per capita on a PPP basis, 114th on nominal GDP per capita, and 73 in the human development index. Sri Lanka is definitely not a poor country let alone among the 10 poorest!! The fact is that most countries allow people from much poorer countries than Sri lanka to visit without a visa while barring Sri Lankans is ironic.

The other fact is that even very poor countries bar Sri lankans travelling to their countries while allowing people from much poorer countries in without any visa.

The reasons for this in my opinion are:
1. Bad attitudes of (some) Sri Lankan people
2. Inefficiency of the foreign ministry

Out of about 200 countries worldwide, Sri Lanka ranks 99th in GDP per capita on a PPP basis, 114th on nominal GDP per capita, and 73 in the human development index. Sri Lanka is definitely not a poor country let alone among the 10 poorest!! The fact is that most countries allow people from much poorer countries than Sri lanka to visit without a visa while barring Sri Lankans is ironic.

All true. I totally agree. These issues even exist in developed nations to some degree. But, my point is about half the countries are still worse than us even in this front.

My argument is not whether Sri Lanka is good or not per se. It's that Sri Lanka is good comparing to a lot of other countries, but those other countries are allowed to travel without visas to more countries than us!
