Long term it would have failed. But in short term they were able to make us debt free. Had they had another term we never know where we would be now. Never heard of millions died though. What is your souce for the claim? Given the population back then hard to imagine millions would die even.
My point is if Anura tries to develop the country and make tangible reforms he will lose the next election. That's gauranteed.

In sri lanka there were hundreds of deaths, but I was referring to China,USSR,North Korea & other countries that implemented same communist economic policies.

I don't think the Sri Lankan problem is political. Any country with potential and talented people can never be subdued merely by a bunch of politicians for 76 long years.

Look at Thailand, politically screwed. Believe it or not, their politics worse than in Sri Lanka. Every now and then coups ousting sitting governments, military taking over and etc. But they have pretty advanced economy among the global south. Why? The country is blessed with talent and strong people.

The individuals' strive to survive, earn and live drives the economy. The people are skillful and mentally strong, endures hardships. Sri Lankans on the otherhand are neither skillful nor strong. So we are losers at global level.

We are so retarded that we brag about our so called 95% literacy rate. Utter BS. We just trick ourselves into believing that we are great. Sri Lankans do not have any appreciable talent. No creativity. No endurance and not willing to take on challenges except for a few handfuls. We are deep below in the gene pool.
