රජෙකු තම මාලිගාවේ විවේකී සුවෙන් සිටින විට, ජනේලයෙන් දෙසින් කටහඬක්
ඇසුනා.

වයසක මිනිසෙක් අශ්ව කරත්තයක ඇපල් විකුණන බව ඔහු දුටුවා. අවට ගණුදෙණුකරුවන් බොහෝය. රජු තම ප්රධාන අමාත්ය වරයා කැඳවීය.
"මෙන්න ඔබට රන් කාසි 5ක්, දුවලා ගිහින් මට ඇපල් ගෙඩියක් මිලදී ගන්න."
ප්රධාන අමාත්යවරයා එක් වාසල ඇමතියෙකු කැඳවා,
"මෙන්න රන් කාසි 4 ක්, දුවලා ගිහින් ඇපල් ගෙඩියක් මිලදී ගන්න."
ඔහු මාලිගාවේ නිළධාරියෙකු කැඳවීය.
"මෙන්න ඔබට රන් කාසි 3 ක්. දුවලා ගිහින් ඇපල් ගෙඩියක් මිලදී ගන්න..."
මාලිගාවේ නිළධාරියා සෙන්පතියා කැඳවා,
"ආ ඔබට රන්කාසි 2 ක්. දුවලා ගිහින් ඇපල් ගෙඩියක් මිලදී ගන්න."
සෙන්පතියා මුර සෙබළකු කැඳවා;
"ආ ඔබට රන් කාසි 1 ක්. දුව ගොස් ඇපල් ගෙඩියක් මිලදී ගන්න."
මුර සෙබළා මහලු වෙළෙන්ඳා කරපටියෙන් අල්ලාගෙන,
“ඒයි, තමුන් මොකද කෑගහන්නේ?
මේක තානායමක්ද මාලිගාවක්ද?
මේ මඟුලෙන් අයින් වෙන්න. මම ඔබේ කරත්තය සහ ඇපල් රාජසන්තක කරනවා."
මුර සෙබළා සෙන්පතියා වෙත හැරී,
"මෙන්න, රන් කාසිය සඳහා ඇපල් කරත්ත භාගයක්."
සෙන්පතියා මාලිගාවේ නිලධාරියා දෙසට හැරී
"මෙන්න, රන්කාසි 2 සඳහා ඇපල් ගෝනියක්."
මාලිගාවේ නිලධාරියා ඇමති වෙත හැරී;
"මෙන්න, රන්කාසි 3 සඳහා ඇපල් මල්ලක්."
ඇමතියා මහඇමතියා වෙතහැරී
"මෙන්න, රන්කාසි 4 සඳහා ඇපල් මල්ලකින් අඩක්."
මහ ඇමති රජු ඉදිරියේ පෙනී සිටියේය.
"මෙන්න, මම රන් කාසි 5 කට ඇපල් පහක් ගත්තා මගේ රජතුමනි. ඔබ ඇණවුම් කළ ආකාරයටම."
රජු වාඩි වී කල්පනා කළේය,
"ඇපල් පහක් - රන් කාසි පහකට?
ඒ කියන්නෙ පුරවැසියන්ගේ තත්වය ඉතා හොඳයි. වහාම බදු වැඩි කළ යුතුයි...!!!"
අපි දැන් ඉන්නේ ඒ තත්වයේමයි, කණගාටුදායකයි,
අපගේ අවසානය ගැන මගේ ස්වාමියා පුදුම වේවා..

ඒක පිලිගන්න පුලුවන් කතාවක් නෙවෙයි. රට හදන්න තමන්ට බලය ඕනෙ කියල බලය ගත්තනම්, ඒ බලය පාවිච්චි කරන්න බයවෙන්න හේතුවක් නෑ. නන්දයගෙ බොරුව ඒකෙන් එලිවෙනව. තමන්ගෙ පවුලෙ නඩු අයින්කරන්නයි, දුමියව එලියටදාන්නයි විතරයි මිනිහ බලය පාවිච්චි කරේ.
