ශිෂ්‍යත්ව විභාගය සම්පූර්ණයෙන්ම අහෝසි කිරීම සම්බන්ධයෙන් මෙතෙක් කිසිඳු තීරණයක් ගෙන නොමැති බව අධ්‍යාපන අමාත්‍යාංශයේ පාසල් කටයුතු පිළිබඳ අතිරේක ලේකම් ආර්.එම්.එම්. රත්නායක මහතා පවසයි.

අද දෙරණ විසි හතර පැය නාලිකාවේ විකාශය වන “බිග් ෆෝකස්” වැඩසටහනට එක්වෙමින් අතිරේක ලේකම්වරයා මෙම අදහස් පළ කළේය.

පොළොන්නරුව රාජකීය විද්‍යාලයේ අභිනවයෙන් ඉදිකළ මෛත්‍රී ශිල්ප කලා මණ්ඩපය ඊයේ(25) පස්වරුවේ සිසු අයිතියට පවරාදීමේ උත්සවයට එක්වෙමින් ජනාධිපති මෛත්‍රීපාල සිරිසේන මහතා සඳහන් කළේ 05 ශ්‍රේණිය ශිෂ්‍යත්ව විභාගය අහෝසි කිරීමට රජය තීරණය කර ඇති බවයි.

ශිෂ්‍යත්ව විභාගය හේතුවෙන් දරුවන්ට මුහුණ දීමට සිදුව ඇති පීඩාවන් පිළිබඳ අවදානය යොමු කරමින් මෙම තීරණයට එළඹි බව ජනාධිපතිවරයා සඳහන් කළේය.

ජනාධිපතිවරයාගේ මෙම ප්‍රකාශයෙන් අනතුරුව සමාජය තුළ මේ සම්බන්ධයෙන් දැඩි කතාබහක් නිර්මාණය වී තිබේ.

ශිෂ්‍යත්ව විභාගය අහෝසි කිරීමට රජය ගෙන ඇති මෙම තීරණය පිළිබඳ ලංකා ගුරු සේවා සංගමයේ ප්‍රධාන ලේකම් මහින්ද ජයසිංහ මහතා සඳහන් කළේ ශිෂ්‍යත්වයට විකල්පයක් අවශ්‍ය බවයි.

Scrapping Grade V Examination Is Mere Political Rhetoric: Ministry Sources Say There Is No Real Replacement Plan For Grade V Scholarship Exam
Although President Maithripala Sirisena pledged to scrap Grade V Scholarship examination, the Education Ministry has no real plan to replace the highly competitive examination, multiple sources within the ministry said.

Addressing a meeting in Polonnaruwa, Presidnent Maithripala Sirisena assured that the Grade V Scholarship exam would be done away with. However, he stopped short of revealing the alternative to the highly-competitive examination which has drawn severe criticism from many quarters.

"Grade V Scholarship cannot be abolished overnight. There has to be a proper plan to replace it with a suitable mechanism, " a senior source within the ministry said.

"Scrapping Grade V scholarship under the current circumstances will give rise to so many fresh problems. If there is a plan to scrap the Grade V examination, there should be a concerted effort to resolve other issues that have plagued the education sector, " the spokesman explained.

Earlier the Education Ministry said the Grade V examination will be replaced with a less-competitive Grade VII examination, but a final plan is yet to be formulated.

He added that there is still no comprehensive plan in place to replace the exam , apart from what he termed "mere political rhetoric".
