Recently there was wide publicity given to some boys entering girls school just before Ananda Nalanda and Joes petrite big match week. There was no incident other than entering a girls school and could have been dealt by two peinciples, but someone has complained to the Police and it was head line!
We do not respect others privacy.
When one of our ex minster was involved in broad day light murder, media was silent. Let him flee to Singapore. But in a Weekend paper a photo of his brain was published under the hearing ' Is it ...... (so and so's ) Brain' . Is is ethical even to publish a known criminals medical records. I at least after this incident stop reading this weekend paper.
We saw how a leading department store publish photographs of a shop lifter - an actress . She pleaded guilty but can the shop publish her photos soon after the incident kneel down positon with stolen goods(apparel) on her
One thing is clear . There is no media ethics in Sri Lanka. They either support the govt or some sections in opposition expecting kick backs when they are in power.
I saw PM lashing out media in Parliament. But that was of no use. People are easily fooled by media. So it is time to boycott them en mass. Stop buying papers and watching TV.
There is no use in taking them to courts. We know the situation in courts. See how road rules are being violated, though they are often ended in courts.
Taking them to courts will not hurt them . They have black money to spend on such litigation. There are enough lawyers to support them. Courts are inordinately slow.
Take a cue from Alabama walk, by the Blacks against the segregation.
Hitting them on their economy and popularity is the best.
Get them to follow ethics.
