1)I dont live within Colombo city limits so I don't I have a clear idea about the availability of Uber /Pick me in the dead of the night . So I cant comment on that aspect . And I am not talking about unlimited fuel supply to health care workers, I am talking about limited fuel allowance depending on the distance to the hospital.
2) Read my reply to Sandy_Fdo. And I am talking on behalf on all the healthcare workers. I work in an ICU so I cant speak for other units. But even medical and surgical units oncall doctors may need to come come hospital in odd hours when public transport is not an option. And Most of the nurses (one of the most underpaid jobs in SL) have to waste a significant amount of their salary on threewheels due to their duries in odd hours.
3) Ofcource all the citizens are under severe mental stress. It may be confirmation bias but I think there is a significant increase in the incidence of heart attacks in 40-50 year group recently. You cant do your duty effectively in a ICU/ETU or surgical theatre after traveling in jam packed bus for 2-3hrs.
4)I cant be responsible for the personal opinions of others . I can be responsible only for my actions and opinions. My previous username is "other guy" .Check its history during last presidential election. "ලබන්න ඕන හැම වරප්රසාදයක්ම ලබලත්' just compare the salaries and other allowances of the other executive officers of the government sector with doctors.
5) I don't need someone like you to teach me how to do my job. You don't have enough brain cells to understand someone else mindset. I can proudly say I have done my duty to my fullest capacity. Many doctors including me have spent our personal money on investigations and treatments of needy patients while your base your jealousy delusions of doctors on mega dramas. Just because some stray dog barked at me it wont change my patient care. I have never been involved in a strike (mainly because I worked in ETUs/ICUs where strikes usually would not affect). (And before you start rambling on private practice I got to say I never have done private practice ).
