Not agreed with some of the points. Is this a foreign video dubbed in Sinhala ???
Give Sri Lankan examples as well....
1. No clock in super markets & they want to retain you as much as possible > This is a big joke my friend. Nowadays limited parking is the biggest challenge for supermarkets. Given that they cant increase the parking space, they have taken number of initiatives to increase the checkout speed. Basically they want you to GO HOME as soon as you are done. Not to entertain you.
2. Smell of foods to increase the sales > In most of our supermarkets do you get such smell or that disgusting smell from the meat counter?
3. Place goods all over the place > This is also an expired marketing tool. In almost all Sri Lankan supermarkets you can see the items properly arranged with clear category headers. Nowadays they dont do what you said simply because (a) Customer will waste more time (opportunity cost of serving another customer as #1 above) (b) Customer might not be able to find what he wants which will lead to a lost sale & dissatisfied customer.
4. Size of the shopping trolleys - My friend, if you need to buy a lesser quantity, in Sri Lanka you have "Baby Trolleys", and something called "Shopping Baskets" as well.
No. This is not a dubbed video its a Original production.
Most of the points are first hand experience in Oman, country I am currently residing and other countries have visited and also Sri lanka where I lived more than 25 years. Also have done so much research and reading physiological analysis of marketing.
This video is intend for bigger shopping malls and not budget markets or small scale shopping market.
1. Have you seen clocks in supermarkets? I have not seen.
2. Supermarket use planogram whether you agree or not, that means items are located in several places around the supermarket. They have clearly marked the labels but still its scattered around the market.
3. I do agree there are baby trolleys but quantity we can insert inside the trolly is limited so people go for bigger ones.
