Arrest warrant on UNP’s Hesha Withanage
Embilipitiya Magistrate K.P.R. Vidanagamage yesterday ordered the police to arrest Ratnapura District UNP MP Hesha Withanage under the supervision of a Superintendent of Police (SP) on the charge of absconding court over a misappropriation case.
The police filed a B-report against him in connection with misappropriation and property damage.
A building in Embilipitiya that belongs to the MP had been rented out to a resident of Nugegoda for business purposes. However, there had been a complaint against the MP for breaking open the building.
Subsequently, a compliant had been lodged that several items in the building had gone missing following the incident. The MP initially appeared in court, but had later been absconding.
