Invading a sovereign country is not something to cheer or take lightly. When Sri Lanka was going through the war India had enough reasons to overthrow Sri Lanka ( They were almost about to ) back in 1980s.

Using the same argument as Putin, India can invade and annex Sri Lanka right now. They can easily justify ruling party is a far right pohottu cult with the support of all the racist groups that undermine minorities.

Best is to follow the official Sri Lankan stand if you live in Sri lanka, not taking either side. Every Ukrainian soldier has a Ceylon tea bag in their ration pack and we do business with Russia as well.

Personally, as I live in a different part of the world, considering what UN stands for, I take the side of Ukraine.

After the Partitions of Poland (1772–1795) and the Russian conquest of the Crimean Khanate, the Russian Empire and Habsburg Austria were in control of all the territories that constitute present day Ukraine for a hundred years.

A chaotic period of warfare ensued after the Russian Revolutions of 1917. The partially-recognised Ukrainian People's Republic emerged from its own civil war of 1917–1921. The Ukrainian–Soviet War (1917–1921) followed, in which the Bolshevik Red Army established control in late 1919.[11] The Ukrainian Bolsheviks, who had defeated the national government in Kyiv, established the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic, which on 30 December 1922 became one of the founding republics of the Soviet Union. Initial Soviet policy on Ukrainian language and Ukrainian culture made Ukrainian the official language of administration and schools. Policy in the 1930s turned to Russification. In 1932 and 1933, millions of people, mostly peasants, in Ukraine starved to death in a devastating famine, known as Holodomor. It is estimated by Encyclopædia Britannica that 6 to 8 million people died from hunger in the Soviet Union during this period, of whom 4 to 5 million were Ukrainians

Exactly. It's not something we should take sides. There are no saints in both sides

My sentiments exactly. Ukraine president is a fucking idiot. But a a country can't invade another country just because they don't like the invading country's foreign policy. Like you said, India can find plenty of reasons to invade Sri Lanka saying we are becoming a colony of China & it threatens their security.

What is wrong is wrong irrespective of how they supported us in the UN. Russia is a bully. Remember when Hitan tried to ban Asbestos imported from Russia & Russia stopped our tea export on some trumped up shit? Putin is an asshole.

So, although Ukraine is a puppet of USA & Nato, its their choice. Is it any good if they simply become a puppet of Russia instead? What about the sentiments of the Ukrainian people? Do the majority of the citizens want to become a puppet country if Russia? I think not.

This is what happens when you have zero geopolitical knowledge and get all your politics from Hollywood and American Mass media

    1. Ukraine has not been a sovereign state since 2014. In a US funded coup the radical groups in Ukraine overthrew their democratically elected leader, and installed Zelensky in his place. It's been nothing but an American and NATO puppet regime ever since. Sovereign nations don't have dozens of bio labs funded by US on their soil

    2. The historical context between India and Sri Lanka, and Ukraine and Russia are completely different. Ukraine was formed by the USSR, by Lenin and Stalin, Sri Lanka was not formed by India

    3. "Undermine minorities" shut the fuck up. Stop viewing Sri Lankan politics through an American lens. The muslims and tamils in Sri Lanka weren't brought here as slaves like the blacks in America were, they came here as traders. Historically there's been no significant quality of life difference between the Muslims, Tamils and the Sinhalese, not even now. If you do have the data to refute me please present them.

    4. UN stands for nothing but death and destruction of the developing world. It uses human rights as an excuse to help US and Europe intervene in developing nations, and has turned a blind eye to what the US did in Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, Libya the list goes on. It's a criminal cartel that needs to be abolished and will be.

Show me any proof that the majority of the Ukrainian people wants to be ruled by Russia or become a puppet state of Russia.

Really? Russia tried poisoning the pro-capitalist presidential candidate & did vote rigging in 2004 to get their pro-communist candidate to power. Only after massive protests from the people with their orange revolution & a 3rd time vote did the actual choice of the people come in to play with getting a pro-democratic president to power.

The so call coup is also about Yanukovych at the last moment refusing to sign the trade agreement between the European Union due to pressure from Russia. Your also neglected to mention the massive protests that happened from the people that chased away Yanukovych which was even bigger than the orange revolution.

Ukrainian people do not want communism. It is a independent sovereign nation where it's people have fought for democracy on numerous times. So will never stand with Russia on this issue. Russia is on the wrong here

There were no massive protests. There were neo nazis funded by the US. The US admitted they funded it, the Nazis admitted they funded them. That's not sovereignty
