A mythic and emotionally charged hero's journey, "Dune" tells the story of Paul Atreides, a brilliant and gifted young man born into a great destiny beyond his understanding, who must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe to ensure the future of his family and his people.

Paul's Dream is the closest Hans has got to his Prince of Egypt soundtrack. Reminded me of the score when Moses encountered Yahweh.

I was skeptical about Zimmer. Feel like he has been complacent with his recent work. Everything after Dunkirk sounded hackneyed. But this is actually pretty cool.

Then again, out of all mainstream film musicians Hans Zimmer might be the most capable in terms of balancing punk and spirituality- which is the soul of Arrakis. For a white person he can go (middle)eastern relatively easily.

BTW, say what you will about Lynch's Dune, the soundtrack Toto wrote for that film was impressive.

A Dune is Hans's passion project. That's why he even say no to compose Chris Nolan's TENET

Yes yes. He seemed to have enjoyed the process a lot.

Both Villeneuve and Zimmer grew up loving the story, which is nice to hear. This was the case with Howard Shore as well (not that LOTR and its production is similar to Dune).
