In a Violent Nature is a 2024 Canadian slasher film written and directed by Chris Nash. Described as an "ambient slasher", the film follows a mute killer who targets a group of teenagers in the Ontario wilderness, with the events observed largely from the killer's perspective.
In a Violent Nature premiered on January 22, 2024, at the Sundance Film Festival, as part of the festival's "Midnight" program. It is set to be theatrically released in the United States by IFC Films on May 31, 2024, and then on the streaming service Shudder later that year.
Film synopsis
When a group of teens takes a locket from a collapsed fire tower in the woods, they unwittingly resurrect the rotting corpse of Johnny, a vengeful spirit spurred on by a horrific 60-year old crime. The undead killer soon embarks on a bloody rampage to retrieve the stolen locket, methodically slaughtering anyone who gets in his way.
