Even if you are a student or a professional, how you start off your day will create the right mood and atmosphere for you to go through your day with ease or difficulty. So, how can you make it better?
- Sleep for at least 7 hours : A good sleep is needed to get those neurotransmitters back in gear and for a good dose of growth hormone.
In adults the growth hormone is needed for immunity and general well being. You not feeling good in the morning, is because of the lack of sleep leading to poorly secreted GH.
- Wake up at a decent hour : Try not to sleep through the day. it will ruin it for everybody. Your body will release an oodle of cortisol around 9 am.
That is the time you are most focused. So be ready for it.
- Reminisce : Contemplate on the things you have done yesterday. It is not a spiritual thing, just a practical thing.
Following a good nights sleep you may not remember some of the statements or resolutions you have made for the day. It is good to take some time and go through it.
- Reading a book/ News paper : It is always good to read a good, but it is a good habit to start off the day with. It keeps the brain sharp and the facts in order.
It will kind of a pre planned exercise routine for the brain. You can also go through the day's happenings in the newspapers.
- Drink plenty of water : It's always good to hydrate yourself. Start with a good glass of water. It will give that initial wake up kick and keep your system well running. it can slowly build up that appetite as well.
- Plan ahead for your day : Go through your day's obligations. Just dragging yourself off from the bed won't do.
You have to go through that plan and see to the needs of the day. You might have to change according to the needs of the day.
- Exercise : A good routine of exercise, keeps the heart pumping and readies the body for that 9 o'clock cortisol boost. It gives flexibility to your body and builds strength as well.
It don't have to be a big thing. make it into a small stretch routine, followed by 5 burpees, 10 squats, 20 crunches, 20 push ups, or a mix of it.
- Personal Hygiene : You can stick to your own personal hygiene pattern, ending with a wash or a bath.
- A cup of tea/ coffee : The morning coffee or tea is best to be taken without any added sugar. it will give that right wake up call.
- The Breakfast : The most important meal for the classroom cadet and the corporate warrior. It is better for it to be balanced rather than couple of pieces of breads with eggs.
Why not take the usual egg salad sandwich with an apple, and a cup of yoghurt. Or a bowl of cereal with milk, to be finished off with an omelet, and a banana.
You can whip anything up, like cashew nut pancakes and golden syrup, but always add a dairy product and a fruit as well.
- Punctuality : The corporate warrior or any other combatant in the today's world has to remember that
you have to be on time at whatever the thing you do. if you are not, then it will ruin your whole day. It sets the mood and the conviction to go through the day with excellence.
