14 year old girl suffering from Severe Pulmonary Hypertension

14 year old G.G. Shashika Prabodhi in this photograph was diagnosed with a very serious illness medically known as Severe Pulmonary Hypertension. This is the disease that makes abnormally high blood pressure in the arteries of the lungs. It makes the right side of the heart need to work harder than normal.
Prabodhi was treated for chronic subdural infection during her childhood. She developed frequent fainting episodes at the age of 8. Now she is complaining of progressive exertional shortness of breath for last 9 years and 5 episodes of massive haemoptysis within last 4 days.
Prabodhi survives each day with two life saving tablets of Bosentan. Parents have to order her medication once a month from India and it costs about 17,000 Rs. Prabodhi’s mother is a simple housewife and her father is a three-wheel driver whose income is barely enough to support his family with four children.
