3D television is an optical illusion caused by each eye interpreting two different images at the same time. The simplest way to skew those images to create the illusion is to use two different colors, a process that's been used for years. Making 3D glasses to enjoy the benefit of this is fairly easy.

    Difficulty: Moderate
    Instructions

    things you'll need:
    Poster board
Two different colors of plastic wrap (preferably red and blue)
    Scissors
    Double-sided tape
    Utility knife/exacto knife
    Ruler
    Pencil
    1
Cut out a long, rectangular strip of poster board, 16 inches by 2 inches.

    2
Using your pencil, make a line 4 1/4 inches from each end. The area in the middle will contain the eye holes, while the ends will become the earpieces.

    3
Make another line 1/2-inch from each end.

    4
Connect the middle line on each side to the far line on the same side with a line 1-inch from the top (or halfway down).

    5
Using the scissors or utility knife, cut the bottom rectangle out on each side to create the earpieces.

    6
Make a mark 1-inch inward from the each of the middle lines, 1/2-inch from the top of the strip. Make another mark 1/2-inch from the bottom of the strip.

    7
Another 1 1/2-inch inward on each side, make another mark 1/2-inch from the top and 1/2-inch from the bottom of the strip.

    8
Connect the marks on each side to create two boxes. Cut them out using your utility knife to create the eye holes.

    9
Carefully place double-sided tape around the perimeter of the eye holes.

    10
Cut one 2-inch square out of each color of plastic wrap. Affix one square to each eye hole, pulling the plastic as taut as possible.

    11
In the center of the glasses, cut a notch halfway up.

    12
Measure a 1/4-inch to the left of the notch and cut diagonally to the center. Repeat this on the other side to create a notch for your nose.

    13
Fold each earpiece inward and then out again to crease them properly.

    Tips & Warnings

If you are making these glasses to enjoy a certain movie or television show, it is important to find out which colors the film uses before starting.
