As I know you can't unlock shaders in 8600gt. You can do it in 8800 series.
But not sure

You cant unlock shaders in newer VGAs.It was the time of Radeon 9250,9750 turbos.Now they are disabled in the chip.Anyway cheap VGA makers make the memory bandwidth half to double the frame buffer.As I understand It should be the case here.But its very rare to see someone do that in this time.
