Sri Lanka's first express air-conditioned train makes first journey

Sri Lanka's first ever express air-conditioned train will commence Monday.
Superintendent of Railway services L.A.R. Ratanyaka said that this train service will operate between Fort and Kandy.
He further noted that the train service is operational on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
There are five compartments in this train and all five are air-conditioned.
Each ticket for the train is priced at Rs. 500.
It will commence its journey at 5.20 p.m on Friday from Colombo Fort. It will then commence its journey from Kandy at 5.50 a.m. on Monday morning.
This express train service was due to begin May 27 but was delayed due to unavoidable circumstances, according to officials.
