By Chrishan Jeewaka Jayaruk Three members of a family were arrested and a locally made fire arm -- a galkatas and a hand grenade seized after they allegedly clashed with police officers at Narandeniya in Kamburupitiya, the police said.
The clash had occurred when the police officers were inquiring into an incident where the parents and their son are alleged to have harassed the wife of a soldier.
The police said the 60-year-old father and his soldier son were wounded when the police allegedly shot them to prevent the suspects attacking the police with the hand grenade.
The police said inquiries had revealed that the suspects had from time to time made several unsuccessful attempts at molesting the soldier’s wife - a mother of three children.
They said there had been no news of her husband for the past six months.
