ya well there was earlier a guy who claimed he could run a car on water and then he took money from investors and jumped out of the country! who knws if this guy was paid by the minister to say he cn do it so he cn win votes! i am not sayin that sri lankans r not capable of inventing stuff! (v hav shown in our history that v r impressive inventors) but i dont lik how the minister is highlighted in this it makes the whole thing look fishy !

ALKA Zadgaonkar believes in creating something of value even out of waste. Since last year, she has been demonstrating to Indian and foreign experts how waste plastic can be converted into petrol, offering a solution to one of the world’s biggest environment problems—-waste plastic disposal.​

Head of the Department of Organic Chemistry at Nagpur’s G.H. Raisoni College of Engineering, Zadgaonkar recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) for manufacturing and marketing petroleum products generated from waste plastic. She has been given Rs 5.9 million for the pilot project.​

bro, according to you, since one or more projects have failed in the past, are we supposed to live in negativity and do nothing at all?? I understand your concern about reliability of some people and their acts. But just because there were one or two bastards we shouldn't close the door on everyone. and it's not very Sri Lankan to talk down on one of our own inventors. I have heard about this guys invention about an year ago. it's nice to see that finally he got some attention. People will be awake and watching what happens with this. So lets try to be a tad more positive and be supportive. Ofcourse we will remember the lesson learned from past mistakes and stay alert on how things progress.

Being concerned is good. but being afraid to take a step forward because of that, is not so.

Do we have enough plastic ?
We damn well do. mountains of em. i am sure if we are to get this project right first, it's main cheap ingredient the plastic should come easy.

how is the income ?
if this project is to work (and i do hope so for SL's sake) it should lead towards a huge saving on the money spent on petrol.

I don't know whether this method has already being invented as some reports claim. even if so, i don't think our engineers at Moratuwa etc., are that dumb not to analyze the pros/cons and take many things into considerations before acting.

The bottom line is this. For your and my sake, and the sake of this country and let's hope this one succeeds. Yes we had many failed projects in the past, but.. if we can make atleast one successful , we can start standing up on our own feet from there. there is no point of reminiscing d mistakes. jst take the lesson and move forward.
