    As far as I know there are no serious drawbacks with portable units.. For occasional use they are cheaper, moveable, no special install needed.
    The downside is they are a bit less efficient, noisier than a split unit and you have to make some arrangement for water removal and also the exhaust has to be out through a window.
    Choice depends on your budget and use.

    පොඩ්ඩක් ikman එකේ බලපං. පිටරටින් ගෙනත් විකුනන ඒවා තියේ. බෝඩිමකට වගේ නම් හරියන්නේ පෝටබල් තමයි. ගෙදරකට නම් split unit Inverter type එකක් ගන්න

    6000-8000 BTU is more than enough. Why do you need portable it wastes lots of electricity. It anyway needs an exhaust pipe. Buy Panasonic or Hitachi Air conditioners. Buy a multi split instead of split air conditioner if you have a single phase which you can use for multiple rooms. Inverter is more expensive but it is worth the price in longrun if you are using for office. If you are using only for summer then buy normal split air conditioner.
