EU condemns LTTE's use of violence and intimidation to prevent civilians from leaving the conflict area
Tue, 2009-02-24 11:26 European Union has condemned the LTTE's use of violence and intimidation to prevent civilians from leaving the conflict area. The European Union, at a resolution adopted at the 2925th General Affairs Council meeting held in Brussel, has also called on the LTTE to lay down its arms and to renounce terrorism and violence once and for all, end the inhuman use of child soldiers and forced recruitment, and participate in a political process to achieve a just and lasting solution. In the meantime EU has called on the authorities of Sri Lanka to engage in an inclusive political process, which addresses the legitimate concerns of all communities.

No Ceasefire - Only Surrender: Prabhakaran and the LTTE Cadres Must Pay for their Heinous Crimes
Tue, 2009-02-24 10:47 Society for Peace Unity and Human Rights for Sri Lanka (SPUR) has urged the Government of Sri Lanka not to agree for any Ceasefire Agreement with Prabhakaran and his terrorist cadres at no given circumstances. In a press statement, SPUR has pointed out that the Tamil Tiger terrorists continue to perpetrate heinous crimes against humanity as the liberation efforts of Sri Lanka’s military forces continue to shrink the land mass under their control. "The LTTE’s arrogant response to the UN’s plea was to expand their attacks against civilians by killing over 20 innocent Sinhalese civilians, mainly Chena farmers in the Karametiya village in Iginiyagala on 21 February 2009",the press statement revealed.
